General description

  • Small to large, mostly medium-sized
  • Metallic green with contrasting yellow stripes
  • ♂ and ♀ alike in colouring but ♂in most species with plain blue and black panels in the wings
  • Wing venation diagnostic: has 2 AX veins:a long pterostigma (extending over 2 or more cells); R4+5 vein branch at or close to subnodus 
  • Perches hanging with wings spread
